What Happens at a Loc Consultation (and Why It’s Worth It)

Locs are a long-term commitment, and a new install can take many hours. A consultation makes sure you choose the right method for your hair and know exactly what you are signing up for before the big day.

What we cover

At My Natural Hair Spa, a loc install consultation takes about 30 minutes and costs $30. Here is what happens:

1. We look at your hair and scalp. Texture, density, length, and the health of your scalp and edges.
2. We talk about your goals. How you want your locs to look and how you want to style them.
3. We recommend a method and size. Sisterlocks, microlocs or traditional locs, and which size will work with your hair as it is today.
4. We go over price and timing. Your install price and deposit, and how many hours (or sessions) it will take.
5. We explain early care. What to expect in the first months and how to look after your locs.
6. We pick your install date.

Why it is worth it

• No surprises. You know the price, the time and the plan before you commit.
• The right method for your hair. Not every texture or density suits every method. A consultation avoids an install that does not hold or does not look how you hoped.
• Better results. Planning the size and parting ahead of time means a cleaner, more even install.

What to bring

• Photos of loc styles and sizes you like.
• Your hair history: color, relaxers, heat and recent styles.
• Your questions about maintenance, budget and timing.
• Your calendar, so you can pick an install date.

Come with your hair loose and free of heavy product so we can see your natural texture.
